MMali – also performing as Issun-bōshi – stands firmly behind the idea that music should be felt, not only heard.
MMali is a Slovenian producer and performer based in Ljubljana, who has established himself as one of the most creative and versatile Slovenian underground DJs. He has built a reputation performing and curating events in Slovenia, including a boutique summer festival, Izvir/Endemit. For over a decade, he has been shaping the local electronic music scene with a visionary approach to event organization, envisioned by the Formaviva crew and refined by his new collective, Endemit.
In his production and sets, he undertakes a progressive path to transcend the boundaries of techno, exploring groovy, melodic genres – a unique taste he most likely acquired at music school, while experimenting in a jazz band.
Matej's recent vinyl release on the Endemit label is his tribute to deep, atmospheric, percussive techno. It features a remix by Inland and promises future collaboration with other Berghain residents, such as Efdemin.
The tenth episode of the emit podcast series features MMali, a driving force of the endemit crew, recorded at the closing set of Ende Mit 25, our New Year's party. It's 5am on January 1st, 2026 — that liminal hour when the night finally gives way and a new year begins to take shape.
